This is done by cutting the pods open using blunt cutlass or wooden clubs. The wooden club is more preferred since the cutlass may injure the beans inside the pod. Our farmers undertake this process 2-3 days after harvest.
During the pod breaking process, all black and germinated beans as well as other foreign materials are disposed off to ensure the flavor of the end product is not affected.
